Porcius and Salome

Pronunciation:  POR-sih-uhs  [and]  suh-LO-mee

Occurrences:  2

First Reference:  Yeshua 20:15-16

Now when Yeshua was come to the house of Porcius and Salome, certain scribes and Pharisees which were among the multitude, seeing that the Lord would enter in, rebuked him, saying:

“Why will you make yourself unclean by entering the house of Gentiles and sinners? For which of the prophets that came before you have behaved so unseemly as this?”

Summary:  When Yeshua and his disciples journeyed to Caesarea Philippi (Y:20:1), he stayed at the house of Porcius and Salome, two women considered among the scribes and Pharisees to be Gentiles and sinners. Yeshua responded to the Pharisees’ criticism by exposing their hypocrisy and providing scriptural examples of revered prophets communing with supposed Gentiles and sinners (Y:20:17-35).

Notes/References:

So Yeshua dwelt many days in the house of Porcius and Salome, and they which were in the city brought unto the Lord many of the sick and the infirm.
