Cleopas

Pronunciation:  KLEE-oh-pas

Occurrences:  3

First Reference:  Yeshua 48:19

Now when it was about the ninth hour of the day, there traveled unto Emmaus, John the son of Levi, and Cleopas his father’s steward.

See:  Emmaus, John (son of Levi), Levi

Summary:  According to scripture, Cleopas was a steward for Levi, the father of John, who was one of Yeshua’s disciples. The Sunday following Yeshua’s crucifixion, Cleopas and John were traveling to Emmaus (from Jerusalem?) when they met a fellow sojourner who asked for assistance carrying his things. Cleopas and John helped carry the man’s load and invited him to dinner, during which the man revealed himself as the resurrected Yeshua (Y:48:19-27).
