Now in the lands of Shinar, by the waters of Diyalah, did Nimrod the son of Cush
rule, for he had built up the waste places, and Babel was made prince among all the
cities of the plain.
See: Nimrod, Shinar
Summary: The “waters of Diyalah” may likely refer to the present-day Diyala River,
which feeds into the Tigris river just south of Baghdad. According to the book of
Beginnings, this was the relative location of the ancient city of Babel (B:25:1).
