James Bar Zebedee

And there were of John’s disciples who followed after Yeshua, Andrew Bar Jonas, the brother of Simon; John Bar Zebedee, the brother of James; Philip of Bethsaida, the son of Jabesh the fisherman; and James Ben Alpheus, the brother of Levi.

Summary:  James Bar Zebedee, along with his brother John, were numbered among the disciples of John the Baptizer who later became followers of Yeshua. James and John were fishermen in partnership with Andrew and Simon Bar Jonas. The four of them set aside their family fishing business to become disciples of Yeshua (Y:6:69). James, along with his brother John, and Simon (Cephas) were appointed by Yeshua to lead the twelve apostles (Y:18:3). James was also among those who witnessed the transfiguration event on Mount Tabor (Y:19:2-15).
