Summary:  At the conclusion of the 2nd Endowment, the narrative relates how Azrael stepped through the veil to leave the realms of the Demiurge and return to earth — the world of the First Power. He reports being “carried to a high mountain which did overlook the Wilderness of Sin in the regions of the Sinai” (2:12:62-63). There he is greeted by Areta, the Supreme Mother of Heaven, who offers to grant Azrael treasures of hidden wisdom. This scene marks a transition into the 3rd Endowment, which book reveals the history and circumstances surrounding the birth of First God.

Nothing else is stated regarding the “Wilderness of Sin in the regions of the Sinai”, or why Azrael ended up there. However, this location is likely the same as is referred to in the Hebrew Bible (Exodus 16-18). The Hebrew term ‘Sin’ pronounced seeyn, means clay and thorn. ‘Sinai’ means the place of thorns.
