Understanding the Resurrection of Yeshua
by Azrael Ondi-Ahman

Something must be said with regard to the death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua of Nazareth. For we are left by our religious teachings to face two important questions:

1.  Was the death of Yeshua the will of God?

2.  Is belief in the atonement of Christ necessary and essential to our exaltation?

In answer to these questions, the Song of God states the following:

“For such exaltation as God would give comes not by reason of my death upon the cross, but it is my word which gives eternal life, for the words which I speak are spirit, and they are life.

What shall it profit a man if he believe in my death and burial, or if he take delight in my resurrection but does not the things that I say? For I have left unto all who will, an example that they should follow in my steps, that they might become even as the Only Begotten of the Father.”

Wisdom 14:53-54

The Song of God warns us against the church dogmas that men have built up around the death, burial, and resurrection by saying:

“Whosoever has ears to hear, let them hear; for I tell you truly that the love of God manifest itself not in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as these men would have you suppose, but rather in those things which Yeshua desired to teach unto the children of men.”

Wisdom 12:26

The resurrected Yeshua confirms this by saying:

“But to those who shall keep my words to obey them, and who shall follow diligently after me, unto them shall be given exaltation and eternal life in the kingdom of God.”

Wisdom 14:56

This is what the scriptures have to say about the Blood Atonement which is celebrated every Easter. Yet Christians and Mormons alike will tell us that unless we accept and believe this doctrine of wrath and blood, we cannot be accepted of God as being worthy of exaltation. But even in this, the Song of God speaks clearly, for these are the words God spoke:

“For what doctrine alone shall make a man righteous? Behold, I say unto you, there is given not one; for only God can make the righteous so;

Which God is made manifest in that the righteous should love the children of men even as their own soul.”

Wisdom 24:42-43

Let us also look at the words of the resurrected Yeshua, and see how and why such a doctrine as Blood Atonement was foisted upon the hearts and minds of a thousand generations. For Yeshua spoke these words, saying:

“…hear and understand this mystery that you may learn wisdom; for to shed blood does not atonement make.

Yet consider how that there are worlds without number in the immensity of space, but only upon this world did the children of men become so great in iniquity for religion’s sake that they would crucify the Father of their spirit when he should come to walk among them.

But on other worlds this is not so. For the power of the Oneness is found in the wisdom and knowledge of God, and in holiness would the Anointed One lift all who are willing beside the God of glory.

Therefore, because there was such great wickedness in this world for religion’s sake, it was believed by many that redemption should come by reason of the blood of Christ…”

Wisdom 14:58-61

It is important to understand that sincerity is a poor substitute for the truth. Oftentimes, it is the sincerity of church leaders that causes people to be duped into following men instead of seeking after God. In many churches sincerity has taken the place of truth altogether.

“Beware of false shepherds therefore, who shall come to you in fine clothing and smooth speech, for inwardly they are ravenous wolves seeking to devour.

Take heed and guard yourselves round about, for there are many who for a pretense speak soft words, beguiling many, yet are they filled with gluttony; who for religion’s sake would fill their hands with the fruit of all your labors.

You shall know them by their fruits. Can men gather grapes from thistles, or figs from thorns? Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth only evil.

Fear them not because of their much speaking. For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; there is nothing hidden that shall not be made known.”

Wisdom 9:46-49

This is God’s counsel to those who might find themselves confused by the sincerity of church leaders who only have empty words to speak. But to the church leaders themselves, to all those who stand proudly before the whole world and boast that they are blessed and chosen above all others because they are the members of the only true church, the scriptures say this:

“Woe unto you hypocrites, for you make clean the outside for appearance sake only, that you might appear beautiful and praiseworthy before others, but inwardly you are filled with all manner of uncleanliness, being made blind towards your own transgressions.

Attend, therefore, to the affairs of your heart and make yourselves clean every whit, for every tree which brings forth evil fruit, even that tree shall God uproot and cast away.

Consider how blind you are made to become, for you say to yourselves that if you had lived in the days of Yeshua you would surely have been his disciples.

You generation of vipers! Did you not know that all they who consented unto the death of this righteous one, were even everyone churchgoers like unto yourselves, believing that they were elected above all the rest?

Why pretend you, therefore, among yourselves saying that if you had lived in Yeshua’s day, you would surely have been his disciples? For I tell you truly that he received not his authority from church leaders as you do, but rather he was appointed by God unto the people.

Woe unto you churchgoers, hypocrites! Repent you and weep aloud, for you are become as the scribes and Pharisees of old. For either you love the tree and hate its fruit, or else you love the fruit but hate the tree that bore it.”

Wisdom 10:56-61

“Woe unto you hypocrites, churchgoers with hands made red with blood. What are your churches now if not the tombs and sepulchers of that God whom your fathers murdered?

Guard yourselves, therefore, against the righteousness of churchgoers; for by word and deed would they hope to make you subject unto certain men of authority, that they might hedge up the way against you, that you might be encompassed round about with the doctrines and creeds of men.

Watch, therefore, and beware: For in the beginning did the teachers and preachers of the church seize the keys of deep knowledge and with great cunning did they hide them beneath the robes of their authority, securing them against you for the sake of their traditions.

I tell you truly, they shall not enter into the kingdom of God, neither would they permit that you should enter either.”

Wisdom 12:54-57

“Whosoever has ears to hear, let them hear and understand. For I tell you truly that these churchgoers who stand before you wrapped round about in such authority as they would give themselves, even they would kill again this Yeshua of Nazareth if he should come again to walk among you.”

Wisdom 12:53

It was the church leaders of Yeshua’s day which killed the Father of their spirits. And it was the church leaders again who concocted from out of their own hate and self-loathing, the doctrine of Blood Atonement, causing that every man, woman, and child should stand as one condemned for the death of Yeshua, which very Christ they would crucify again and again in order to fill us with shame and guilt and self-loathing. Such is the emptiness of that harsh doctrine which has gone a long way to discourage those who would find for themselves some refuge in the very heart and soul of God.

It is this doctrine of Blood Atonement which God rejects so completely, not only because it is insulting to our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, but because it is so harmful to their children.

But with the regard to the resurrection, that was God’s doing. It was God’s way of rejecting the evil designs of religious leaders. The resurrection of Yeshua was God’s rebuttal to the rule of order imposed by the church leaders of Yeshua’s day. The resurrection of Yeshua is God’s guarantee that good will always succeed over evil, that light will always banish away darkness, that life is greater than death, and that love shall always conquer men of hate.

“Walk therefore, with much assurance, in the way of holiness and fear not the prattlings of churchgoers. Press forward, nothing doubting, that you might approach boldly the throne of God, having been made pure by a deep and abiding love.

Think not, therefore, that by such and such a doctrine you are justified before God. For the way of holiness manifest itself only according to such tenderness as you would grant unto the children of men.”

Wisdom 12:43-44

Let us further examine the Song of God regarding the resurrection of Yeshua, for there were several events which will shed some light on the true significance of the resurrection.

* * * * * * *

There are three events described in the book of Yeshua that may help us gain a deeper understanding of the significance of the resurrection. The first event deals with Yeshua and his Beloved Mary. The resurrected Yeshua finds Mary weeping, believing the body of her husband had been stolen from the tomb:

5 And as she wept there drew near unto her the Lord, being clothed and fitted as a gardener, and he spoke unto her, saying:

6 “Woman, why are you weeping?” And she, looking up, knew not that it was Yeshua which spoke unto her, but supposed that it was the gardener only.

7 And she answered him, saying: “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.”

8 And taking thought she spoke again, saying: “Sir, I pray you for mercy’s sake, if you have borne him to some other place, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”

9 And the Lord, being filled with tenderness for her, spoke, saying: “Mary, why have you come to seek the living among the dead?”

10 And hearing the voice of the Master, Mary looked up from off the ground and beheld with her eyes the Beloved;

11 And leaping up she kissed him and did embrace him, for he that was dead was alive ever more and filled with joy and blessing.

Yeshua 48:5-11

Yeshua reveals the very intent of the resurrection by asking the question: “…why have you come to seek the living among the dead?” Indeed, children of God, why do you go seeking the living among those which are dead? Why do you continue going to church? For whose sake do you do this? What have these churches become if not the tombs and sepulchers of those which are dead already? Will those which are spiritually dead hear you? The point to be made is that the resurrected Yeshua is about life and joy and blessing.

Do you remember the words Yeshua spoke: “I tell you truly, that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living only.” (Yeshua 30:21) And again, Yeshua spoke of the dead, saying: “Come follow me, and let them which are dead already bury their own dead.” (Yeshua 7:60) If the resurrection of Yeshua means anything; then it means the triumph of life over death; it can mean no less than this.

The second incident as recorded in the book of Yeshua, deals with Yeshua’s appearance to his mother, Miriam:

[for there came to her] a beggar which was sorely afflicted; and seeing the Lord’s mother making ready the noon meal, he petitioned her for mercy’s sake to feed him.

And she, being filled with compassion, took the man into the house, and setting before him some food to eat, she knelt down to wash his feet.

And, behold, there appeared in the feet of the beggar the marks of the nail, and looking upon the man, she beheld Yeshua, and she wept with many tears, being overcome with joy and gladness.

And the Lord drew near his mother to comfort her…

Yeshua 48:14-17

Can you glean from this passage the second message or meaning behind the resurrection of Yeshua? In the miracle of the resurrection God proclaims that in the showing forth of love and mercy and compassion, there is found a power greater than sorrow, greater than heartache or disappointment.

In what place can you find for yourself the resurrected Yeshua? Whenever you give comfort and aid to the poor and afflicted, in that precious moment does the resurrected Yeshua come forth through the very presence of the poor person in front of you, and he will comfort you, he will bless you with all his grace and wisdom.

Why do those who profess Christ so much, fail to see or hear or touch the resurrected Yeshua? They fail to do so because they despise the poor; they cannot pass a beggar on the street without making some snide remark about their laziness, or their filthiness, or their deceitfulness, and whenever they do this, they build a wall between themselves and God. The resurrection of Yeshua is God’s invitation to see and hear and feel for ourselves the presence of the Lord through our aid and kindness to those which are poor, wounded, or forgotten.

Let us now look at the third recorded appearance of the resurrected Yeshua: John, the son of Levi was going to Emmaus with his father’s servant, Cleopas, and they see a man on the road which beckoned to them, for he was carrying a heavy load; some great burden. The stranger invited John and Cleopas to help him carry the heavy burden, which thing they gladly did. And when they came to Emmaus, John invited the stranger to dinner. It is after the stranger blesses the food and breaks the bread to give to John and Cleopas that they see Yeshua sitting before them. The scripture concludes the incident by saying: “…and they jumped for joy because of it.” (Yeshua 48:19-27)

But what can we learn from this? Simply, that in following after God, we must do more than just believe. For the resurrected Yeshua invites each of us to help him in carrying forth the designs of God, to participate with Yeshua in the work which first began so very long ago. This is another significant meaning behind the resurrection of Yeshua.

The first message of the resurrection is: “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” The second is that in the resurrection of Yeshua we find a love, a mercy, a deep compassion which is greater than all our sorrow and heartache together. And the third message to be found in the resurrection of Yeshua is God’s invitation to us to participate with Yeshua in carrying forth the designs of God upon the earth.

There is much more behind the resurrection than even this, and if you will permit me, I shall reveal still the greater portion:

Another significant purpose behind the resurrection of Yeshua was to provide the backdrop against which God might rebuke in strongest terms, the evil which church leaders are capable of doing. But to understand this, we must go back a bit, to the raising of Lazarus from the dead; and of his subsequent murder by the very same men who conspired to put Yeshua to death. Those which ruled in the temple could not allow the resurrected Lazarus to live, for he had become the living proof of Yeshua’s close connection to God. Of this incident, the book of Yeshua records the following:

So the word went forth concerning the raising of Lazarus from the dead, and from all Judea, and Perea, and Samaria, and Galilee, did many come up unto Jerusalem unto the Passover.

And all men spoke the name of Yeshua, and many went unto Bethany seeking him, and there went also unto Lazarus a great many which would see for themselves the one which was raised from the dead, that perchance they might touch him.

But in Jerusalem did Caiaphas take counsel with the chief priests and elders concerning what they should do because of it.

And when it was decided, they determined that Lazarus should be killed also, for because of him, all Israel believed that Yeshua was the very Anointed One which was come from God.

Yeshua 41:27-30

The stage was set for murder, and the scriptures record the following:

But Lazarus, as he was going unto Jerusalem to feast, there fell upon him certain of the Sicarii, and they killed him and did strip him of all his clothing, and they hung him from the walls of the city.

And all which passed by, when they saw it, spoke, saying: “Is this not the man which the Master raised from the dead?”

And many which followed after the Lord, withdrew themselves from him, lest they also be killed, for they began to fear for their lives.

And the disciples, when it was morning, brought unto Yeshua the robes of Lazarus, covered with blood; and when the Lord saw what had been done unto him, he groaned in his soul…

Yeshua 42:21-24

The chief priests of the temple accomplished their goals in the murder of the resurrected Lazarus: First, people who believed in Yeshua, even they did stop following after him. Second, they instilled in the hearts of many the rule of fear.

Yeshua wept for the city of Jerusalem, and the scriptures conclude the tragedy of Lazarus by saying:

When the Lord had said these things, behold, he wept for all the city, and would not be comforted.

And rising from his place, he did break in pieces the staff of his hand, and setting his face unto Jerusalem, he set hard his soul unto death.

Yeshua 42:35-36

But why do the scriptures conclude the incident by saying that Yeshua “set hard his soul unto death?” Is there something going on which we don’t know about? To answer this question we need to turn to the book of Beginnings: In this book of scriptures, we hear of a grand Celestial Counsel which takes place during the Second Dispensation as initiated by Noah, the Arch Angel Gabriel. During this counsel we hear the Arch Angel Michael speaking to Emmanuel, the future Yeshua of Nazareth. And this is what Michael had to say:

Now if it so be that you should go down to the earth to walk among the children of your soul, then shall the Fallen One rise up against you, and with much cunning cause that the children of promise should kill you before many witnesses.

Therefore, seeing that evil shall conspire against my anointed one, perchance to frustrate the mercies of God, even so shall I contend against Lucifer in righteousness, for your sake.

Beginnings 24:31-32

The way of peace and holiness shall you establish before all the people. And if it so be that evil shall lay hold of the chief priests and rulers of the nation, that they should kill the Father of all people, then shall the words of the Father have power to lead as many as will to repentance. And I shall forgive them abundantly for your sake.

Now if it so be that they should kill the Son of God when you shall go forth to redeem them, then shall I cause that you should receive the resurrection of the body, that many might behold you again in the flesh.

And they shall know of a surety the promise of eternal life in the kingdom of God, that throughout all their generations the way which you shall teach them might give to many the assurance of hope.

Beginnings 24:48-50

Now we come to the reason of why Yeshua set hard his soul unto death. Not because he gave up hope, or lost his faith, or wished to quit in doing the things of God; and not because he wished to rush headlong into the grave either. Yeshua was determined to embrace to himself a resurrection which evil men could not undo.

It was a resurrection which would nullify the religious darkness of his day and our day together. In the resurrection of Yeshua, God tells his children to fear no longer, for life is greater than death, and hope stronger than such fears as lesser men would try to impose upon the very children of God. It is after Yeshua appears to those he loves the most, that he next appeared to those who would pit themselves against God for the sake of their authority. In the scriptures we read:

And going away he appeared next to Caiaphas, saying: “Why will you persecute the righteous?” And the Lord began to rebuke him and to upbraid him because of wickedness.

Yeshua 48:32

Here we learn that in the resurrection, God puts the evil of men on notice by saying that good will prevail over wickedness, that life will rise triumphant over death, that the ways of God are greater than the designs of men.

Believing in the resurrection is not a requirement for those who wish to know and feel the presence of God in their life. The resurrection of Yeshua was a gift which God gave to his children; it is a gift without any strings attached to it. There are no strings attached because the resurrection, as a general principle, does not apply. No one other than Yeshua was meant to be resurrected from the dead.

There is no fear to be found in those principles which come from God. If any man comes and tells you that this is from God, or that is from God, notice whether or not there is found any fear therein, and if there is, then it did not come from God. But how can we know if this is true? Let us again, look at the scriptures:

Now on the third day of the week, there gathered in the upper room wherein the Lord had supped, a few which were of the apostles, and with them were many of the disciples; and the doors were shut and bolted, for many feared lest Pilate should seek also to put them to death.

And as they spoke among themselves, there came in the midst of them, Yeshua clothed in white raiment of exceeding brightness, and he spoke unto them, saying: “Peace be upon you.”

But many which saw were fearful, for they supposed that they had seen a spirit which was come forth to trouble them, and they drew back from the Lord being terrified of the presence.

And he spoke unto them, saying: “Why are you troubled, and why do fears arise in your hearts?”

Yeshua 48:37-40

The resurrection is many things. Like a priceless jewel, it bears many facets. It is the many facets of the principle which makes it sparkle and radiate the light and presence of God. But unlike the resurrection principle taught to you in church, resurrection was meant only for Yeshua. It is not a principle of salvation. We do not live but one mortal life only, but rather we live many.

It is my prayer that the children of God find herein some greater understanding of the resurrection of Yeshua, and that in the study of the things which come from God, you will find that which is greater than all your dreaming.
